Dr. Ailes, our Medical Director, has been full-time with Ideal Image since it opened. An Ohio native, he is a graduate of Oberlin College with a combined major in biology & chemistry, and he received his M.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, OH. He served his internship at the U.S. Naval Hospital/Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA, where he was named "Outstanding Intern" out of all the students from 18 different U.S. Medical Schools. Dr Ailes is a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), and the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons (ISCLS), and has been trained and certified in the use of all laser medical procedures provided at Ideal Image. Some of Ideal Image's lasers are not available anywhere else in the Tampa Bay area. Dr. Ailes is Board-Certified in Family Practice. He has over 30 years of medical experience, including 5 years of active duty as a Navy medical officer, where he was an expert in nuclear, biological, and chemical defense. Later he was an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo, where he taught medical students and residents. He has been a Florida-licensed physician since 1987. When he took the written examination for Florida medical licensure, he scored above the 97th percentile among all physicians taking the examination that year. He is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and is also Board- Certified with Honors by the American Board of Quality Assurance & Utilization Review Physicians. He is also a member of the medical advisory board of The Medical Education Group, a national continuing medical education company.
